The Sixth China-Africa People's Forum was held in Beijing on November 15, 2021. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chinese President, sent a congratulatory letter to the forum. Ji Bingxuan, Vice-Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, delivered the keynote speech. Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, read President Xi's letter. Leaders of African countries, including Burundian President Evariste Ndayishimiye, South Sudan President Salva Kiir, Senegalese President Macky Sall, and Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, congratulated — either by letter or video — on the opening of the forum. Approximately 200 participants, including Party and State leaders of 30-plus African countries, diplomats in China and heads of China-Africa people-exchange organizations, attended the opening ceremony either virtually or in person.
Huang Xiaowei, Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), was invited to attend and address the forum's opening ceremony. Huang said the congratulatory letter sent by General Secretary Xi reflected the great importance Xi attached to China's relationship with Africa. Xi pointed out the direction for people from China and African countries to continue advancing their friendly relations in the new era. Huang outlined historic achievements reached in Chinese women's development under the firm leadership of the CPC Central Committee, with Comrade Xi at its core. She also shared the fruitful results the ACWF has achieved in women's exchanges with African countries. She expressed ACWF's willingness to enhance communications with sisters and friends from Africa, to deepen cooperation and make new contributions to promote gender equality and women's empowerment, and to build a closer community with a shared future between China and Africa.
The China-Africa People's Forum, as one of the important events within the mechanism of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), was launched by the China NGO Network for International Exchanges. Since 2011, five China-Africa People's Forums have been held, playing positive roles in the advancement of China-Africa people's friendly exchanges and practical cooperation.
